Visiting patients in the VA Palo Alto Health Care System (VAPAHCS) Polytrauma Rehabilitation Center (PRC), The Military Order of the Purple Heart representatives gave out Christmas stockings filled with everything from iPods to calling cards. The representatives were excited to meet the injured Veterans who recently returned from combat overseas.

"It's great to see and feel the genuine recognition for our service members and Veterans from our community, especially from community members who are Veterans themselves," said USMC SSgt. Jeffrey Jimerson, military liaison for wounded warriors at the VAPAHCS. "I've seen this support not only during the Christmas season, which can be a more difficult time for our patients and families, but it's present throughout the year as well."

The PRC provides intensive rehabilitative care to returning Veterans and Service members with multiple injuries including traumatic brain injury. VAPAHCS has one of only four VA Polytrauma Centers in the nation.
