Hand Hygiene Campaign

Clean hands save lives: An ongoing effort to reduce hospital-acquired infections

Hand under sanitizer dispenserVA Palo Alto Health Care System (VAPAHCS) launches “Clean Hands Save Lives” during Hand Hygiene Month in May, a campaign that creates awareness of when and how to wash your hands to greatly reduce the possibility of infections while receiving care.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), HAIs can affect about one in 31 hospital patients in the United States on any given day, and practicing proper hand hygiene is one of the simplest ways to reduce HAIs.

To reach our objectives of being number one in both quality and satisfaction, VA Palo Alto Health Care System is enlisting everyone’s help in raising awareness and spreading education about hand hygiene.
