VA Palo Alto Health Care System has a new partnership with the Community Veterans Engagement Board (CVEB). The VA-wide model brings together Veterans, Veterans Service Organizations, military families, Veteran advocates, community service providers and stakeholders to have a collective voice in identifying their community goals in an effort to resolve gaps in service at the local level, and to improve service delivery for Veterans.

“It’s important for us to engage with our community partners,” said Army Veteran and VA Palo Alto Director Thomas J. Fitzgerald III. “We strive to care for our Veterans on all levels – and the CVEB is a great new partner to help us continue our successful journey of quality care, patient experience and commitment.”

CVEB made the partnership announcement this spring during its launch meeting at VA Palo Alto.

 “We are here to listen to the Veterans and address their concerns,” said Marine Veteran and CVEB Chair James Brown. “We are honored to serve those who have served – our heroes deserve the best treatment, and CVEB is proud to partner with VA Palo Alto to support our Veterans.”

CVEB’s Success Practices include:

  • Integrate local service providers and stakeholders with local VA offices to address gaps in services;
  • Identify targeted localized goals and follow a model of impact metrics; and
  • Remain inclusive, accessible, and share information on community engagement activities with the public and listen to the voice of the Veteran, family, caregiver, and survivor.

“We’re bringing everybody to the table so that we can heal and help our Veterans and their families – CVEB is helping us to lead the way,” added Director Fitzgerald.
