More than 70 Veterans, staff members and volunteers took an initial “dip” (or, at least a peek) into the new VA Palo Alto Health Care System's Aquatic Therapy Center on the Palo Alto campus Feb. 24.
"We are thrilled that the new Aquatic Therapy Center is now open," said Alisa Krinsky, Veterans Affairs Palo Alto Health Care System’s Supervisor Recreation Therapist. "I genuinely feel that providing our Veterans a state-of-art facility coupled with personalized care is crucial to their well-being."
The new center features two salt water pools on the Palo Alto campus. The warm-water therapy pool is 50 x 40 feet with an accessible ramp; the six-lane lap pool is 75 x 50 feet.
Veterans wanting to use the new pool must speak with their primary care provider first, and obtain a Recreation Therapy Aquatic Fitness consult.
The new Aquatic Therapy Center is located in Building 530. The hours of operation for Veterans in the lap pool are:
- 8:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. and 1 to 4 p.m. (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday)
- 8:15 a.m. to 11 am and 1 p.m. to 2:15 p.m. (Friday)
