VAPAHCS Director Receives Top Nursing Award
Director Lisa Freeman was surrounded by staff and her husband in the Mental Health Learning Center on November 30, when she accepted the VA Secretary's Award in Nursing Excellence for Medical Center Director. Ms. Freeman was recognized for her dedication to advance nursing within VAPAHCS and VA. Through her leadership at VAPAHCS, she has provided support to at least four different nursing initiatives that have resulted in program change to better serve our Veterans.
"Today's six awardees have made significant achievements for Veterans across America," said Secretary Bob McDonald, who addressed everyone over V-Tel from VA Central Office in Washington, D.C. Leadership from nursing and other national offices were also present during the award presentation.
Since 1984, the Secretary of VA’s Awards for Excellence in Nursing & for Advancement in Nursing Programs has annually honored one Medical Center Director, Nurse Executive, and various nursing roles who are actively engaged in the care of patients at a VA Medical Center. This year’s winners also include:
