To support Veterans in the coastal county areas, VA Palo Alto Health Care System (VAPAHCS) has expanded the Housing and Urban Development-Veterans Affairs Supported Housing (HUD-VASH) program at the Capitola Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC), to help better coordinate affordable housing for eligible, low-income Veterans. This program provides specialized Housing Choice Vouchers to be used at the rental of their choosing. In addition to the rental subsidy, eligible Veterans also receive ongoing VA services from clinicians within the health care system.

The HUD-VASH program is a partnership between the Department of Housing and Urban Development, the Department of Veterans Affairs, and many local Public Housing Authorities. Our local HUD-VASH program currently serves Veterans in the following counties: San Mateo, Santa Clara, Santa Cruz, Monterey, San Joaquin, Stanislaus, and Southern Alameda County. Visit the HUD-VASH website for more information.
