SCI - Peer Support Program

Mission: Veterans Helping Veterans Through Experience

  • We motivate each other through greater self-empowerment and increased community involvement.
  • We pool experiences regarding life with disability, sharing strategies for the newly injured and providing new prospective for the long term injured.
  • We share collective experience to troubleshoot particular questions sent by Veterans with SCI/D unable to attend the group meetings.
  • We provide input and feedback to the SCI/D Center to improve the services available to all SCI Veterans.

Peer Support is available at the VA Palo Alto SCI/D Center in individual and group settings.

Individual Peer Mentoring

We link newly injured Veterans and Active-Duty Service Members with peer mentors who have specific training to provide guidance and support in managing life issues. We will provide the connection with a peer mentor, and you will determine the frequency and type of contact based on your needs.

Group Peer Mentoring
