Sujuan Cai is a seasoned nurse practitioner, wound certify nurse, and a recent PhD graduate from the Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing at University of California at Davis. Her dissertation research focused on health care utilization among Veterans with SCID. She utilized both VA and Non-VA administrative data to identify rates of emergency room visits and re-hospitalization during the first year after initial rehabilitation at VA SCID center among Veterans with SCID.
Her study coined a new term, desirable hospitalizations, offered by VA SCID center with wellness and preventive aims for the Veterans with SCID. Her study is innovative on combining both VA and non-VA patient identifiable health care utilization data that is the first time being applied to VA SCID population.
