VA Palo Alto Health Care System
Men's Trauma Recovery Program (MTRP)
The Men's Trauma Recovery Program (MTRP) is a PTSD Residential Rehabilitation Treatment Program (PTSD RRTP). PTSD Residential Treatment Programs are one component of the continuum of care for PTSD offered by the VA Palo Alto Health Care System. Other PTSD-specific treatment options at this facility include outpatient treatment through our PTSD Clinical Teams (PCTs).
The Men's Trauma Recovery Program is located at the Menlo Park Division of the VA Palo Alto Health Care System. The 21-bed MTRP serves Veterans and active duty service members with Military Sexual Trauma and/or combat-related PTSD or post deployment issues. The length of stay in the MTRP varies in accordance with each individual's needs, but typically lasts approximately 90 days; longer lengths of stay generally are associated with participation in a Cognitive Processing Therapy Group.
The staff of the MTRP is comprised of a dedicated, dynamic, and experienced group of mental health professionals including psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, nurses, and recreation therapists. Additionally, the quality of service provision at the MTRP is enhanced by trainees such as psychiatry residents, psychology interns, psychology practicum students, social work interns, and nursing students.
