VA Palo Alto Health Care System
National Center for PTSD
The National Center for PTSD (NCPTSD) is dedicated to research and education on trauma and PTSD and works to assure that the latest research findings help those exposed to trauma. The Dissemination and Training Division (D&T) Division is one of seven NCPTSD VA academic centers of excellence.
NCPTSD D&T Division promotes best practices in treatment of Veterans with post-deployment stress problems by applying and improving methods of evidence-based training and implementation science. The Division also works to increase the reach, comprehensiveness, and cost-effectiveness of care by developing, disseminating, and evaluating web- and smartphone-based interventions, and by bringing community-based helping resources to bear on the welfare of Veterans.
The National Center for PTSD was created in 1989 within the Department of Veterans Affairs in response to a Congressional mandate (PL 98-528).
D&T is excited to offer the following training programs:
- NCPTSD VA Advanced Fellowship in Mental Illness Research & Treatment
- NCPTSD Research Externship Program
