Many lung diseases can lead to shortness of breath that limits activity. For some people with lung disease, delivering additional air volume with a mixture of air and oxygen to the lungs can help.

Lung nodules are abnormal spots or growths in the lung. Sometimes these are called “a spot on the lungs” or a “coin lesion.” There are two main types of lung nodules, cancerous lung nodules and noncancerous lung nodules.

From the time that the Lung Nodule Team is consulted, patients receive close follow-up. The team consists of pulmonary (lung) providers, thoracic (chest) surgeons, oncologists (cancer doctors) and pathologists (specialists in looking at tissues). The Lung Nodule Team ensures the patient receives care on a timely manner and helps the patient navigate the system of evaluation.
