Living Skills

The Living Skills area includes the subcategories of Activities of Daily Living and Communication Skills, which focuses on skills needed to live safely and independently in the home. Through carious activities, participants receive training and adaptive devices to assist with personal hygiene, clothing management, kitchen safety skills, meal preparation, cleaning skills and labeling and organization. Communication skills provide alternative methods for communicating with one's self and others. These skills may include adaptive forms of handwriting, calculating, recording, touch-typing to efficiently manage tasks such as correspondence and check writing, storing and retrieving information, and labeling. Braille instruction may also be provided for such tasks.
