VA Palo Alto Health Care System
Construction in Sunnyvale
The new Sunnyvale Center will be constructed on a portion of the former Onizuka Air Force Station. Located on 4.4 acres, the new center will provide a consolidated location for most VA Palo Alto Health Care System research.
The center, approved for development upwards of 85,000 square feet, will create open, collaborative work spaces with emphasis on natural lighting and outdoor workspaces to promote employee health and wellness. The first project will renovate the existing 52,000 square feet administrative building, inherited during the site transfer from the U.S. Air Force.
The Sunnyvale Center is an acquisition of a site in the Palo Alto region to house approximately 200 VA researchers currently located in seismically and functionally deficient buildings located across VA Palo Alto Health Care System.
